Dental Systems, Inc. started doing business in 1987. After ten years of dental office experience, Cathy Erickson, responded to her sister's urging to "sell your Rolodex".
Like most front office staff, Cathy had grown tired of spending hours each week on the phone with carrier or employer representatives. Long before she founded the company, she had begun to meticulously gather and catalogue benefits for local area employers. When she set out on her own, she was able to sell her database of 350 employers in two 3-ring binders. She marketed the product and researched benefits by day; filed, compiled, and published it by night. Cathy’s original motto still guides the company’s service: Wrong information is worse than no information at all.
As the number of employers grew, microfiche readers replaced the binders. Technology introduced 5-1/4" and, later, 3-1/2" diskettes. Today, the majority of Dental Systems' clients download updates daily (at no additional charge) via high speed internet.
The cost of our service has increased very little since we started in 1987. Our initial fee has only been adjusted once and the monthly service fee was modified just 3 times in 20 years! While the consumer price index has more than doubled since 1987, we have continued to keep the cost of Insurance Answers Plus at a minimum.
In 1987, Dental Systems, Inc. provided about 20 specific answers on 350 Houston-area employers. Today, Insurance Answers Plus includes more than 100 specific procedures and answers on close to 35,000 local, state, and national employers dental plans! That number continues to grow daily, since requests for additional employers are accepted at no extra cost to our clients.
In April of 2005, Dental Systems, Inc. expanded its services into Oklahoma. Our staff is committed to providing detailed plan information to the greatest number of offices possible, while maintaining a superior level of service and support to our existing clients.
In April of 2006, we further expanded our lists of services and products. EC&EC (E-Claims & Eligibility Connect)was officially launched. This Dental Systems company can offer Low Cost E-Claims not just to IAPlus customers but dental offices across the nation. Claims are normally 29 cents each. A courtsey discount is given to TDA or ODA Members. They will pay just 25 Cents a claim! This is a significant savings over the national average of 50 Cents!
In October of 2007, the Texas Dental Association endorsed our Insurance Answers Plus program. Less than 6 months later, the Oklahoma Dental Association followed suit with its endorsement.
In July of 2008, the TDA endorsed our E-Claim service and the ODA followed with a similar endorsement in February of 2009.
